SXCF Series Impulse Voltage Generator is high voltage test equipment to test insulation performance and protective characteristics of various high voltage electrical equipment under lightning overvoltage and switching overvoltage. It is essential equipment for electrical manufacturers, power operation departments and scientific research institutions.
This series impulse generator is mainly applied to conduct lightning impulse full wave test, lightning chopped wave test and switching impulse voltage test for power equipment.
It can generate eight standard impulse waveforms: standard lightning wave, switching wave, lightning chopped wave, oscillating lightning wave, oscillating switching wave, steep wave for line insulator, steep wave for composite insulator, transformer induced switching wave. All technical parameters comply with Chinese National Standards and IEC standards. The main technical performance reaches advanced domestic and international level.
Suitable for power transformers, high voltage insulators, high voltage cables, surge arresters, switchgears, CT/PT, bushings and other HV power equipment. Widely used in high voltage laboratories, third-party testing institutes, electrical factories and power grid research centers for type test & routine factory test.

A Lightning Impulse Voltage Generator is a high-voltage test system designed to simulate lightning surges and switching overvoltages. It generates standard impulse waveforms, such as 1.2/50 μs lightning impulses and 250/2500 μs switching impulses, to verify the insulation strength of transformers, cables, insulators, GIS, bushings, and other high-voltage equipment.
A lightning impulse test is used to evaluate whether electrical equipment can withstand transient overvoltages caused by lightning strikes or switching operations. It is widely used for factory acceptance tests (FAT), type tests, and routine quality inspections of power equipment.
The system operates based on the Marx Generator principle:
1. Capacitors are charged in parallel.
2. Trigger gaps discharge simultaneously.
3. Capacitors connect in series instantly.
4. High impulse voltage is generated and applied to the test object.
This method allows generation of impulse voltages ranging from hundreds of kilovolts to several megavolts.
Typical test objects include:
• Power transformers
• Distribution transformers
• Instrument transformers (CT/PT)
• High-voltage cables
• GIS and switchgear
• Insulators
• Bushings
• Surge arresters
• Air gaps
• Research materials
